Volunteering

Level 2, 20 credits, 150 study hours

This will be open to counsellors who already have a Counselling Diploma and wish to train as relationship counsellors to work within Scottish Marriage Care as a volunteer.

Counsellors would have to undertake a selection process, complete the academic and assessment criteria of the module.

The module content covers:

Examination of the theory and skills required to use The Skilled Helper approach to counselling, and particularly how it can be used with couples.
Examining theories of human development in relation to adult relationships.
Understanding the nature of triangular relationships and acquiring the necessary knowledge and techniques to work with two people who may not have a common agenda.
Identifying developmental issues, belief systems and collusive relationships
