CALLS ON CELEBRITY COUPLE CHANTELLE AND PRESTON TO
'FOCCUS' ON THE FUTURE
Couples are being
warned not to rush headfirst into marriage by
family support charity Scottish Marriage Care
(SMC), following the recent spate of celebrity
engagements including Big Brother's Chantelle and
Preston's ultra-fast courtship.
SMC'S Chief
Executive, Mary Toner, offered advice to couples
thinking of tying the knot:
"Couples like
Chantelle and Preston have not been together long
and need to be careful not to rush into anything.
Getting married is a lifelong commitment, and the
decision to marry should not be taken
lightly."
Toner continued,
"Couples need to take time out from the
wedding preparations to prepare for the marriage
as well and would really benefit from programmes
like SMC'S 'FOCCUS', a pre-marriage inventory
course which highlights strengths and weaknesses
in a relationship and prepares couples and married
life."
'Linda', a newlywed
and 'FOCCUS' client, agreed saying, "'FOCCUS'
helped us to recognise the positive areas in our
relationship and highlighted some important areas
we hadn't even thought to talk about. It was a
great investment in our future!"
