Pub Quiz

Our latest pub quiz was held in the Ruag Bar on Thursday 28th October 2010. We had some fabulous prizes for the raffle. Paul Burnside was the quizmaster for the evening and despite some of the questions being rather difficult, everyone had a great time.

We managed to raise £300 on the night, with the winning team, “Spongebob Quizpants”, donating back their £50 winnings, so thanks to them for their generosity.  Also thanks to Joan Cosgrove for donating back her winnings from the football card.  Once the remaining football card proceeds come in the total for the evening came to over £400.

Thanks to everyone who donated prizes, took football cards to sell and attended the event. We hope you enjoyed the evening and we’ll keep you posted about our next night.

Can Collection

We would like to take this opportunity to point out that there were a number of people who helped out with these collections last year, but were not named in the newsletter at the time.

They where Fiona Denver, Clare Lappin and Jennifer Wyper. The actual total raised was £1539.93. Thanks to them for all their hard work.

Trek to Macchu Picchu

Quick note from Peter Martin to say he made it to Macchu Picchu and it was fantastic!

“The trek was a made a wee bit harder with the onset of altitude sickness. What was that like? Try an 8-hour walk with the worse hangover you have ever had and you’re nearly there, but it was worth it. Macchu Picchu was amazing and with all the support I managed to raise over £6,000 for REACT to help kids with their own mountains to climb and knowing that cheered me up when I was trekking / suffocating.”

It’s not too late to make a donation towards the trek. You can donate to SMC through the Just Giving website or send a cheque to SMC, 72 Waterloo Street, Glasgow and mark Peter’s Trek on the back.

Well done to Peter on his brilliant achievements, both completing the trek and raising such a healthy donation for REACT!
